The familiar whine of the console powering down, signaled to Henri that it had happened yet again. "You've got to be kidding me," she muttered. Braddock reached up and tapped her comm badge. "Braddock to Trask. Three guesses why I'm calling." She waited, staring into the air as she awaited the Bolian's reply. She could hear the desperation in his silence, and so she spared him the answer. "This time relays three through seven are down."
//"I don't understand, sir. I followed his specifications to the letter."//
Braddock exhaled. "Good, now you can follow mine," she said as she turned her attention back to the console. "Calibrate the main deflector to emit the quantum beacon in cyclic bursts every 0.8 seconds. That should prevent the relays from overloading and allow us to continue scanning."
//"He mentioned something about that degrading the integrity of the--"//
"Yes... 4.1% by my estimations," Braddock stated. "If Mr. Hunter has an issue with those modifications, have him speak to me. You have your orders, Mr. Trask. Reset the relays and inform me when you're done. Braddock out." As Henri closed the channel, she knew that it was likely more of a question of 'when' rather than 'if.' She wasn't entirely sure how she felt about Hunter being back aboard the Talon. Him having a constant security escort certainly didn't put her mind at ease either. Still, he had thus far donw qutie well in helping to restore people back where they belonged. Now, it was simply a matter of putting what was left, back to normal... if that was possible.
She wanted this entire ordeal to be over. She wanted all of their people back, and she certainly wanted all the others to get back to where they belonged. One thing she had learned was that the question of 'what if?' was sometimes better left unanswered. She had seen alternate versions of people... and some of those versions were difficult to reconcile.
Henri attempted to push the thoughts from her mind, and focus on something other than many faces of Victor. She began to pass the time taking additional scans of the wormhole. Surely, someone in science would be able to use this informations. Henri couldn’t help but recall how healthy Hunter’s confidence in his intellect had been. All of a sudden, a visit to the planet began to sound much more appealing.
