As she stared out the window, Aurora Viaen couldn't help but feel that she was somehow being slighted. It was naive and rather arrogant to believe so, and one thing Aurora felt she wasn't was naive. Still, when looking at the larger picture, some would conjecture that she had... gotten the short end of the stick, as her Terran counterparts would say. From what she'd learn, many of her companions to Horisi were enjoying sunshine and gloriously blissful weather. What she saw outside her window was (granted in a different hemisphere) a rather stormy night.
Her venture to Horisi was supposed to be a continuation of cultural exchange on behalf of the Romulans, specifically in the area of which she was an expert: medicine. Some of their medicinal practice had appeared quite revolutionary and advanced by many standards. It may have been natural skepticism, but Aurora was admittedly curious. It had taken a few conversations, but ultimately Aurora had found passage to Horisi, but she hadn't come alone.
With her father's resources being stretched thin currently, she had to rely on the Federation for passage to Horisi. She had for the first time in years asked her mother for a favor. She was quite certain that the woman would ask her for something in return. After all, that was how things worked in the world of diplomacy. It was far less altruistic and much more murkier in reality than most believed.
The pattering of the rain against the window pane stirred her from her thoughts as she looked at the others present. She was sure that most of them were a tad weary of her presence, and she was used to that. Growing up with blond hair among Romulans, you certainly tended to stand out. Whispers and hushed voices weren't anything new to her. Still, the representative that had been sent to guide them through the hospital had yet to return.
"My apologies," said Norin, the Horisian guide as he returned. "I was delayed by an unexpected situation. We will be able to resume our tour shortly. Is there anything I can offer to you while we wait?"
Another delay?! Aurora let out a rather audible sigh of frustration as she turned away from their host. She chided herself almost immediately for the gesture. She knew better... far better, but the circumstances weren't ideal. She was never herself when he was around. Or perhaps that was the problem: she was truly herself whenever she was with him. He was only a few meters away, and yet she wasn't sure how to behave around Bernard. He was present in an official capacity as well, but that was beside the point. It had been a long time since they had been just colleagues. And she couldn't parade around this facility giddy as if she were on an actual date.
There weren't any ill feelings between them, at least she hoped not. Still, she wasn't going to allow herself to be buried under a shroud of mystery. She took a few steps towards him, convincing herself that they could hold a civil conversation with one another like two esteemed physicians could. Still....
"It must be some situation if they're delaying us this long," Auri commented idly as possible as she moved towards Bernard. She offered a slight smile as she stood in his proximity. She detested waiting. She had always detested waiting. "Hopefully, it's nothing serious, right?"
