"So, on a scale of one to ten, exactly how badly did you really want to ride the ants?"
"One," he had smiled at her. "I have better things to do."
Close to an hour after leaving Horisi, Grace had gone to her quarters on the Talon to "freshen up and allow the histamines in her body to settle down," with strict instructions from Kealan to meet him at a certain hour in his Ready Room, which was where he was now sitting, pouring over the items that had been left on his desk by his Yeoman. Pulling the decorative paper out of one festively adorned gift bag, he stared inside, a puzzled look on his face until he slid a PADD closer to him to read Coardi's note that had been left with the items.
"Huh," he muttered, stuffing the paper back into the bag on top of the item, the paper drooping with less creative flair than had been originally presented.
The card was next, Coardi's explanatory message giving him a chuckle. To put this mission on her shoulders was truly a test of her knowledge of human celebrations and the kitten that stared back at him from the card was humorous, fluffy, and was balancing giant presents on its small little head all while looking happy to do so. "Perfect," he nodded. Women liked kittens. With a flourish, he signed the card, all while ignoring the imaginary voice of his sister instructing him to put a lot of X's and O's all over it. Just his name.
Opening a drawer in his desk, he began to set the present inside when a small object caught his eye. Placing the gift back on his desk, he reached inside the drawer, fingering the flimsy item. "Seriously," he groaned, before shoving it to the back into a corner before placing the gift inside as originally intended. The card followed and he checked the PADD for further instructions, noting the location of one other item, also hidden in the room.
Things were ready. All he needed was Grace.
