The tension of the earlier conversation with Hrax was almost preferable to the tension building now. Coardi found herself naturally navigating the conversation around all the mens' frustrations, save Caspian who seemed to be as calm as ever.
"Still we've got lots to do though,"
The work piled on. Nothing unusual about that.
"I'd like to write a short address to the attendees about the events of the past few days, just acknowledging the hardship and struggle we've all gone through. Caspian, you've got the best sense of the crew morale at the moment I'm guessing, so any input from you on that would be great."
"If I may interject, it may be a good idea if a speaker could be one of us that were
detained in one of those small, cramped cells for over 25 hours. The perspective from both sides of the field are important to acknowledge, if you really feel like such a speech is necessary.
"Cadet Tekison may be an option for you, although I wouldn't recommend Lieutenant Commander Sur'shess as she isn't a woman of many words." Coardi gave a guarded smile.
"Crewman, Ensign, could you two speak to my colleagues behind the bar, let them know of our plans, then draw up an invite, to notify the rest of the crew? Meanwhile, if you have any other suggestions, don't hesitate to voice them."
"Notify the crew? Me?"[/i]
Poor Hrax had gone from nearly falling asleep on his feet to looking like he'd finished running one of those human triathlons she'd read about.
"I'll follow your lead. You know more about diplomacy than most people in this room, not including the Captain."
The flattery brought the sparkle back into her eye. She would have to reward him for that later.
"Darling, you've already got so much in your bowl." That didn't sound quite right. "Cup? Oh, plate." That was the one. Beside, he'd just gone through some emotional whiplash. "I think the only think you ought to do is get some rest when you get the chance. Leave the rest up to me."
Party planning, though a skill she was gifted with, wasn't something she had in mind to do today, however it might have proved to be useful.
"It seems one of the keynote speaker candidates has just come in, Mr. Hargreaves. Why don't you invite him to put something together while Hrax and I draft an invitation."
Coardi continued smiling mildly, maintaining a pleasant appearance.
