1. Read the Rules of the board.
2. Check out the Available Positions and choose one that is listed as open.
3. Go to Character Creation to find accepted races for your character.
4. Go to Face Claims to make sure the celebrity face you want to use isn't taken.
5. Decide on a name for your character and register with that name.
6. Go to Character Creation to copy the form needed for your application.
7. Create a new thread in the Create Characters Here board with the title as the name of your character. Paste the form you copied from the Character Creation board into the body of the new thread. Fill in the form as completely as possible. Remember, your application should be a prime example of your writing style, so watch the typos and grammar mistakes.
We understand that it is a lot of information but, if you take the time to read it, many problems will be eliminated in the future and the admin will be very happy with you.
Just an FYI for members regarding activity levels here on this site: We have members from all over the globe, in different time zones, and with all sorts of jobs which require different levels of real life commitment. If you plan on plotting with another character, and you are interested in doing rapid-fire posting, please make sure that it is okay with the other writer. It eliminates a lot of hurt feelings and/or frustration in the long run. This doesn't mean that this gives you the liberty to constantly take 3-5 days to reply to a post, only that you understand why it is that many members can't immediately reply to yours.
Also, it is considered bad form to grouse in the cbox about a player's lack of posting. Would you like that to happen to you? If you have a question about someone's lack of posting, please PM the admin so that we can discuss it in private. No one likes to be called out publicly.
In addition, normal RP etiquette is for you to allow all the other characters in the scene to have a chance to reply before your own character replies again. While sometimes this has to be broken in order to push the main plot along if one member is lagging, we should all try to give the other members time to post. Yes, the plots can be exciting and you are anxious to get in another reply, but give the other members the courtesy of a bit of time. As mentioned above, many members have 8 hour full time jobs and go to school as well.
That said, if you're in a main plot, you must be posting frequently. Allowing days to pass holds everyone up and hurts the board.
Remember, your chance of having a key role in the next plot depends on how you contributed in the past plot. If you were holding everyone up for days, or if you were constantly not reading what was happening and making continuity mistakes, the chances of you having a key role in the next plot are slim.
If you come to the Talon with the understanding of what has been laid out above, there will be no misunderstandings.
As always, if you have any questions, feel free to PM a member of the admin staff.
