The airlock slid open before him. Sprosan got his first look at Deep Space Nine. Interesting make-up, he thought as he ran his fingers along the wall as he entered the station. A few other Starfleet and non-Starfleet personnel joined him in wandering towards the promenade now that they had arrived.
It was hard to believe he was here, on Deep Space Nine. Just last month he wouldn't have dreamed of being in this sector of the galaxy. His latest propulsion project on Mars had just proved itself successful. Sprosan thought he'd be staying there for quite awhile to help implement the new technology. Little did he know that he would be tapped to fulfill the empty shoes of an assistant chief of engineering on a mission into the Gamma Quadrant.
Life was always an adventure! So, though he wanted to stay and watch the effects of his work, Sprosan packed up his things and headed for a transport. Now, here he stood, staring at the Cardassian built space station.
Just before dis-embarking he'd received word that the Peregrin was in the midst of an important mission in the Gamma quadrant and the last transport...the Pioneer, he thought, had already come and gone. At this moment, there were no other ships scheduled to go through the wormhole.
----
It didn't take him long to secure a set of simple quarters until transport could be arranged to the Peregrin. It seemed that current spatial anomalies were keeping most of the ships from going in their direction. One interesting tidbit, however, was that apparently his own newly assigned chief was also somewhere on the station. Interesting that an Interpid-class ship like the Peregrin had gone off on a mission without a chief or asst chief of engineering. Now, that was something worth looking into. But, it would wait until another time.
For now, Sprosan headed into Quark's, the place everyone seemed to 'recommend' visiting on DS9. He'd see if all the hype was really worth it.
