Character's Name: Joraak
Age: 74
Gender: Male
Race: Human-Vulcan Hybrid
Physical Profile (height, build, weight, hair colour, eye colour, skin tone, etc.): 5’9”, Athletic, 86kgs, Dark Brown, Dark Brown, Light Tan.
Birthplace: San Diego, California, Earth

Personality: While somewhat reserved for a Human, he is significantly outgoing for a Vulcan, social, open-minded, occasionally over-zealous in duties, mostly logical but fully prone to emotions due to his human upbringing, niether pacifistic nor aggressive.
Background and History: Joraak is the son of a Vulcan father and a Human mother. During his mother’s pregnancy, his father died in combat. When his mother learned of his father’s death, she left Vulcan and returned to Earth to raise him there. Because of her love of her husband, Joraak’s mother named him after his father. Joraak was raised in various places over the west coast of the North American continent on Earth until he began attending MIT when he turned 20.
After obtaining his doctorate in Computer Information and Sciences from MIT, he married a Human woman and began a teaching career there when he turned twenty-eight and, over the years, had three children. All of his children decided to join Starfleet when they came of age. His daughter was just about to go off to the academy when word reached them that Joraak’s wife Vanessa, who was off planet visiting family, had died.
After a few weeks, he decided to end his teaching career. After he stopped teaching he joined the Academy for a career among the stars. During his time teaching, with the assistance of Vulcan colleagues, he underwent the kahs-wan training that he didn’t have access to as a child, since he was raised human. He still has not completed this training; however, this time it was because he didn’t want to. He has been a member of several crews over that last ten years and now finds himself on Deep Space Nine, awaiting his assignment on the USS Peregrin.

Sample Roleplay: After he arrived on board the USS Excelsior for his first comission, and squared everything away, he sent out a mass notification to all of his students, telling them that, due to personal reasons, he would no longer be their teacher. He told them who would be taking over his position, that he was proud to be their teacher, and that he wished them all luck. Several minutes later he began to receive replies wishing him well in return. He enjoyed teaching for the last 32 years but knew that it was time for him to enter into another career among the stars.
“Doctor, I appreciate your assistance in class. Perhaps we will meet in the future.”
Several students responded this way making a feeling of pride well up within him.
He left his quarters and rounded a corner, heading to his post in engineering to report for duty. “Lieutenant Joraak reporting for duty, Sir,” he said once arrived.
“Ah, welcome aboard.”
After the pleasantries, Joraak was made familiar with the area where he would be working and the people with whom he would be working for the next five years. After being shown around, his commanding officer parted, saying,
“Now that you are aware of the locations of what you need, please get to work. Nice to see you again Dr. Joraak.”
Taken slightly by surprise, he paused for a moment, and then went to his station for diagnostics. While running a diagnostic on the holodeck’s power systems, he recalled the statement made by his CO. He beckoned him over to ask a question. “Sir,” Joraak asked, ”you called me ‘Doctor,’ however, that title was not in my application.”
“I also said, ‘Nice to see you again,’ because you were once my Professor. Did you have something you needed help with?”
A slight smile formed on his face with this new found knowledge. “That would explain why you looked familiar, and no, everything is fine,” he said, turning back to his console.
“Indeed it would, good, and you are on duty. Such discussions can be saved for a time when you are not on my clock,” he said, letting a brief smile slide onto his face.
A broad grin broke out on his face before saying, “No stealing my lines, and Aye Sir!”
While he let his smile subside, he got back to work on the diagnostic for the holodeck’s power systems.
