With a giant rose in one hand and the maintenance kit that Renh had given her in the other, Georgie made her way back to her quarters. It had been a rather long and complicated day, and she couldn't help feeling tired. Despite Celia's kind words, she still felt unsure about where she stood with Hunter. How could he love her and yet not seem to want to be with her?
Tiredly, she walked into her quarters and set the kit down near the door, being careful not to put it in the spot of her own kit. Then she laid the flower gently on the sideboard and crossed to the replicator.
"Rose bowl, with water," she ordered, and one shimmered into view. She carried it back over to the rose and then, with a smile, dropped it into the water. It landed with a gentle splosh. Her smile widened. Now whenever she looked at it, she could think of Celia and smile a little.
That done, she went into her room and changed into her pyjamas; a long blue silken nightdress that she'd not worn in maybe a year. She was pleased that it still fit well.
She picked up a PADD and headed back into the lounge, picking up her purple blanket on the way. Curling up on the sofa, wrapped in the blanket, she started to read. The PADD was a twenty-third century romance novel. It was most definitely old fashioned, but Georgia couldn't help but love it anyway. That was an era where people believed in the virtue of time spent together. Friends who grew up together were expected to flirt and maybe go a step further. Starfleet was younger then, too.
Thinking of the past made her think of her Betazoid ancestor. From the PADD that Sig had given her, Georgie knew it was a great grandsomething, through her maternal line. Probably a great grandmother. She would have seen the twenty-third century, perhaps. I wonder if love was easier for her. I wonder how she came to fall in love with someone from Earth.
The PADD in her hand drooped as she thought more about the past, and stopped concentrating on the story. She wondered what she might find out about her family tree, if she started to look. Starfleet kept fairly extensive records on their personell, and the Federation in general held a good deal of information on Earth citizens. Perhaps if she looked, she'd find something interesting about the relative that had given her a blessing, or maybe curse, that she'd been unaware of.
Nodding a little to herself, she picked up the PADD again and turned off the novel. Instead, she brought up a search window for the LCARs database.
