Posting for the response of Dkaran vessels
"Dkaran vessels, this is the Federation ship USS Talon. We do not intend to surrender our guests to such a demand and we will defend ourselves with deadly force if necessary."
There was an uncomfortable silence before they got a reply and if a frosty atmosphere of mist and ice shards could transfer through such technologies they were using, it was evident now. The voice that spoke was cold and unforgiving with no give.
"Your weapons are no match for our defenses. Your shields are at best of amusement to what we shall send you. Do you really want to incur the wrath of the blessed? This isn't your fight or your war Talon. This is between the dogs and Dkara." ANother pause. "You can keep the pups but you will give me their General."
There was a pause and then the sound of whimpers that sounded more doglike that what any of the Dkaran's had sent across. They were appearing to be adding to the twist of the situation.
"I think you'll find that the General will want to hear our terms, Talon," the voice returned and then the view screen flickered and a feed of their bridge was showing, none of their faces showed. It seemed they had something against being seen. A youngster of a Nolfian was held by the scruff of his neck, whimpering with fear as he futilely tried to claw off and escape the hold. There did seem a familiarity between him and the vulpine General. His fur was much darker but his face bore a splash of white and black with large round eyes.
"This is her nephew, Konak. Her wretched spawn if you will. She will trade for his place... any attempt of aggression or rescue will result in his death... which won't be pretty, I assure you, and i don't think you want an angry dog on you do you?" The voice seemed incredibly smug in its sneer.
"So Talon... you have a choice. You can try to win and die, or you could do yourselves a favour and retreat once you have complied. You are not yet an enemy of the blessed. You are free to leave. The Nolfians however are not. Any attempt to leave with the General will be taken as an act of war and you will be added to the list,"
How much was true and how much was bluff in what the Dkarans appeared to be seen detecting. Their technology was strange and peculiar. Clearly unrecognisable to any professional eye. Everything was dark, even the lighting with its slightly green hue. However, what was clear was that they were very much willing to go to drastic measures. However they had managed to get the nephew of the General, it was clear the Nolfian governments and military were not even aware of it. As far as Kunama was concerned, she though he was still being under the care of her friend and senator, Hok'ra.
Konak peered at the strange pinkskins that showed on the Dkaran's viewscreen and blinked with fear but there was a certain emotion of reassurance. As if he subtly knew that the strange people were friends. His struggles intensified and the picture was cut.
