"You are missing the point entirely... I am not hurt by a bruised ego. The Captain did not like a point I made, and has been punishing me for making it... I came here for a drink. I have had that." Dakbar announced before leaving the Nest in a huff. Keira massaged the sides of her cranial temples in basic neuropressure fashion to prevent the oncoming headache.
"Deities save me from a child-like, bull-headed, Cardassian!" she grumbled aloud to herself.
It seems not much has changed in the last century to improve their dispositions after all. It was Dakbar that wasn't getting it if he didn't see that his arrogance and pride were over ruling his better judgement. She didn't know what the nature of his and Captain Dorian's relationship was, but was it any wonder what with his emotional outbursts that the Captain would bench him until further notice when it came to away missions? She mused over the thought of asking the Captain to temporarily bar the Lieutenant from entering the Nest, but thought better of it. For people like him an object lesson in humility was desperately needed, but it wasn't her place to be the one to teach it to him.
Her people were typically reserved and didn't divulge a lot of information about their pasts for these very reasons. They didn't suffer fools lightly, had little respect for those who would hear but not listen, and they were even less trusting or made true friends with them easily. This was probably due to the fact that upon initial meeting of an El-Aurian, they were almost always mistaken for Human. Perhaps it was difficult for him to believe that she had such experiences or skills, regardless of the amount of free time five-hundred years can give you. Either way, whether he believed her or not, she was far too old to be getting into an argument with some Cardassian pup having a temper tantrum and chastised herself for letting the Lieutenant's arrogance get to her the way it did. She too knew better than that, and perhaps would try a different approach at another time.
"That was...interesting" ... "Make it an orange juice, pure...please." the Ensign said. Keira sighed and replicated a glass of grovestand quality orange juice at 3° Celsius before bringing him the glass. When she handed it over to the Ensign she noticed his webbed hands and pegged him for having some sort of Zaldan ancestry, so she didn't bother apologizing for the outbursts for fear he may take offense.
"What brings you to the nest, Ensign....? she asked, trying to get a name out of him. Before the Ensign could answer, however, they were joined by another patron Keira had yet to meet.
"I don't believe we've met," .. "Jed Aubrey, ship's waiter and occasional barkeep." he told her. She extended her hand to them both in greeting, remembering seeing Jed's name on the roster. She'd most likely be working closely with Jed in the foreseeable future.
"Keira Roman," she replied. "I'm the new Hostess of the Eagle's Nest." she told them, introducing herself.
