"Turn that-"
She met the Commander's eyes, but he left the order hanging and went back to his drink, so she left the video feed active for a bit longer. With Robin Star, nothing was stagnant for long. Eventually he would do something worthwhile to watch.
"Hi."
Glancing for a second at the tongue-tied Oliver, Kinin looked up at Bruce who also seemed to be mimicking a fish out of water. "Hello," she replied.
"Uh."
She raised both eyebrows expectantly as he muttered something and looked around.
"Um, I like your ridges."
Before she could reply, he was gone in a flash and she laughed. Maybe he had problems with authority figures. Maybe he- Well, that wasn't it, for after leaving her, he plopped down uninvited at the Commander's table. Kinin frowned at the increasing number of empty glasses in front of Donovan.
"Here," the bartender said as he set a drink in front of Kinin. "From the guy at the bar," he added before shrugging and returning to his post.
She frowned at the glass, but her heart beat quicker in her chest as she realized what it was. To confirm, she took a small sip. Diet Coke. The bubbles bursting at the surface tickled her nose and she put down the glass quickly and rubbed the feeling away with the back of her hand. Diet Coke without ice.
Her gaze snapped in the direction of the bar, but she couldn't see past Oliver. "Excuse me," she said to the mute scientist. Rising, she crossed the short distance to the bar and saw him. She placed both hands on his upper back, gripped his shirt, and pulled him from his barstool, then spun him around and forced him against the bulkhead.
