Stetson was enjoying the view on his monitor; Kinin was letting Dakbar have it with both barrels.
"Who is K.L.?"
. . . Dakbar held her gaze. "I am sure I do not know," he said . . . .
Stetson had been trying to fathom that one himself and had come up with exactly bupkiss. More checking was in order, but as things stood now, the only person who could answer that question was missing and bleeding; decidedly not a promising combination.
"I should tell you this...if I do not make my scheduled report in a couple of days, they will assume I have either been captured or killed. At that point, the rest of my family will probably be deemed of no further value and eliminated."
Which made getting the responses to his inquiries all the more important. So far, all the reports seemed to vindicate/confirm Dakbar's story. Between the overt questioning, the PSE, hypnosis, psych evals, and all the reading between the lines, the conclusion was beginning to coalesce. If the last bit continued along those lines, Stetson had an idea that could create lemonade - with the CO's okay, of course, and confirmed by Starfleet Intelligence. Desan might be just the man to take control of it, Stetson thought.
"Sir, there has been an escalation of events."
Stetson listened to Kinin's report. It confirmed Rychel was injured, but they'd already known that from her quarters, and it further confirmed that Q was involved which, up to that point, had only been speculation. But what exactly had happened to her, and why did Q take her to SGE instead of getting her to Talon's Sick Bay?
Stetson tried to contact his opposite number on SGE but wasn't able to get through, nor was he successful in contacting SGE's command structure. Hell, he couldn't get the base at all. Great. Just great. I wouldn't be surprised if Q had a hand in this as well. All he could do now was hope they would respond to his subspace messages if and when they got through.
