”That pole-dancing mission is still in progress."
Xeira grinned, “That was far easier than I expected it to be,” she said. At the Academy it was easy to make friends, because your first year there was typically the first year for all of your classmates, too, so people sort of naturally gravitated to one another. On a starship, people tended to arrive at varying times, and the crew quickly became a tight knit family.
She laughed as one of the medics shot a glance their way at the mention of pole dancing. This would ensure that she got a reputation fast, for better or for worse.
"Anyway, I'll check the schedule and get back to you."
“That sounds great, I can’t wait to get started.” Xeira was excited, as she always was, to try anything new and different, particularly when it was something that would get tongues wagging. It seemed that as of recently, she’d been more receptive to being the center of attention.
If we're lucky enough to land shore leave the next time we're there, maybe we can find a way to make it happen."
“We could probably bribe one of the engineers to invent some random maintenance or something that needs to be completed before we leave. Or we could just start borrowing parts of the ship until we’re stranded,” Xeira said with a grin.
”For all the rumors I've heard... they're still quite the mystery."
“Yeah, I heard the biologists at SGE going on and on about the pools and their mysterious healing ability,” Xeira said, nodding. “Biology isn’t really my thing, though. It smells funny. Spatial phenomenon might not be as glamorous but at least I’ve never been pee’d on by a black hole.”
"I guess you'll be allowed to tinker around down in... Astrometrics, wasn't it?"
“Yup,” she said, “we actually just got a huge data dump from the alien vessel about the gravity well that the Y’angdar ship got stuck inside. It’s pretty interesting stuff, for a science nerd.” She shrugged. “I think I heard someone say we’re on the way back to the station, though, but that makes no sense, we just left there.”
