"Holy crap!"
Yep, that about summed up what he was feeling right now. Did the massive, predator of a ship turn him on a little? Maybe. Did it scare him a little? Sure. And yet, the immediate response was the same: Cobus felt his heart rate jump to a faster rhythm, his pupils dilate a few millimeters, and his moronic, Starfleet brain beg to get a closer look. It was hard to believe that those little blips on their sensors had become something so massive and so concrete. It certainly wasn't any ship design that Starfleet was familiar with (at least not officially).
As if one first contact situation was complex and delicate enough, now they had two, the latter of which seemed significantly less agreeable. The Y'angdar certainly looked very alien, but their anxiety was unmistakable. The new arrivals didn't look to be quite so harmless, nor did they seem pleased about the current state of affairs.
Not wanting to further complicate matters, Cobus quietly left the station he'd been working at and moved to the back of the bridge area. Working in tandem with the Y'angdar was likely to confirm these aliens suspicions that the Talon wasn't here by accident, and the last thing anyone wanted was to see this situation escalate. Besides, the engines were stable now that everything was powered down, and once repairs got underway, he'd be more useful elsewhere.
Retreating into the background, Cobus kept his head down, but his eyes were locked on that viewscreen, waiting to see what happened next. He glanced briefly at Jacoby, wondering if their new XO felt like he was in over his head yet. Cobus was silently glad that he wasn't the one leading this mission.
