"Give me a second,"
Grace hadn't been expecting that particular response from the doctor. He then turned and left the room, leaving the security guard to watch over both Grace and Kinin. The nurse shook her head slightly annoyed by the doctors course of action. Perhaps it was a result of her mentality being tempered by the roar, but the nurse had certainly preferred a more decisive course of action than 'giving him a second.'
"Unbelievable," said Grace. Her eyes turned back to the screen as she further scrutinized the readings being displayed. Grace could roughly recall some of Kinin's vitals from before, and had to agree that what she was seeing now seemed synonymous with the baby being close to full term. The heartbeat seemed to indicate that the child wasn't in any sort of distress currently, and no contractions had come about either.
"Computer," Grace began, "extrapolate a three-dimensional rendering from the ultrasound on a cycle of 2.6 seconds and revolve along the z-axis at 15mm per second." The acknowledging chime sounded and soon the display did as Grace asked. Her eyes had been on the display when she felt Kinin's hand grab her own and bring it to her abdomen.
"Feel."
Grace's hand rested gently against the Klingon's abdomen and she smiled slightly as she felt movement on the otherside of Kinin's skin. Her eyes looked towards Kinin, but found the initially closed. However, as they opened, the smile on Grace's face sombered even as Kinin spoke.
"I did not mean to disappoint you. What I did was unplanned and... necessary."
Grace sighed. Her lips parted as she searched for how to respond. Though, the first word that came out of her mouth was, "Necessary?" Grace felt slightly ashamed that it sounded like that was the only thing she'd taken from the Klingon's words. The fact that Kinin was actually trying to explain herself meant a great deal to the nurse. "I don't even know what that means."
Grace was hoping that her silence would prompt Kinin to reveal more, but she went on to speak, hoping that disappointment wasn't the only vibe that Kinin absorbed from Grace's words. "But you believe it to be so," Grace said conceding the point. "And your word means more to me than most." Grace sighed heavily. She spared a glance back at the security guard and at the doctor who was silently conversing outside of the room before returning to Kinin.
