"Your message sounded urgent."
That was certainly something that Grace couldn't dispute. It wasn't necessarily a life or death situation, at least it hadn't been when she made the call, but why was Robin here? To give Kinin piece of mind? And beyond that, who was to say that Robin would see this in the same light? He could very easily be furious with Kinin. Would he even give her a chance to explain? And of course there was still the question of whether or not she deserved that opportunity. Not even Grace knew all the details. All she knew was what Kinin told her, which was that she had been forced to make certain decisions.
Grace attempted to stall as she mentally tried to decide how to bring up the subject of Kinin. She couldn't commence with small talk forever, and it soon became evident just by Robin's tone that he wasn't interested in simply engaging in small talk. After all, she had no idea how far he had come or what he'd been doing when he received her message.
"Pie, I was eating, you called, I stopped eating and here I am with half eat pie.... Grace, why am I here?"
Grace took a deep breath. She knew that she couldn't delay any longer. She still wasn't used to this cooler version of Robin. He physically looked and sounded the same, but he was different. Distant... reserved... and yet, Grace suspected that any empath would constantly sense anger just beneath a surface. It was a side of Robin Grace didn't wish to see, but she may not have a choice in the matter.
Swallowing, the nurse's lips parted as she began to speak. "Robin, it's about, Kinin. She's...." Grace soon found herself silenced by the sound of a muffled scream. Her head whipped back towards the door as she realized she had subconsciously moved away from the door. She couldn't have been more than a few meters away, but the sound of a scream was unmistakable, especially after having become so familiar with it during the war. "It's too soon."
Grace was working the equations in her head. There was no way that Kinin should be up and responsive this quickly. Grace began to move towards the door, but once she reached it and attempted to open it, she found that the door wouldn't give. She tried again, and on the third attempt forced her tiny shoulder against the door, but to no avail. Grace ceased her efforts only briefly as she heard another loud scream which seemed to form the name of the man just behind her.
Grace could only wonder if he recognized the voice. How long had it been since he'd heard her speak? It wasn't the most ideal way for him to learn that she was here. Grace had certainly been hoping to spare him such an unceremonious revelation. Grace's tiny fist rose to knock against the door as she attempted to gain entry. "Doctor Hanstein? Doctor, open the door!" Grace knocked again... pounded rather. She was oblivious to what was going on inside, and yet determined to gain entry.
She took a single step back, her eyes surveying the area quickly for some means of gaining access to the room. She wondered how long it would take to work the lock with a laser scalpel. Dismissing the idea, she could only wonder why she was being kept out. Her eyes then fell upon Robin. She was likely stating what was already obvious, and while she was sympathetic to his reaction at this discovery, he was her best chance through that door. "It's Kinin. She's in there," she finally confessed. There was so much to tell, but it wasn't her story to tell nor was there time to do so. The only thing that mattered was getting inside, and fast.
