Tegan looked upon her commanding officer with want. It wasn’t just about wanting something to do, but rather needing some way to distract herself, to be useful, and for a way to lift the starship-sized weight that had fallen upon her shoulders. Whether by ignorance or by arrogance, she’d put the Talon in jeopardy. Now she had to make it up to her crew.
At first, Tegan was worried that Cobus was coming to dismiss her; a tap on the shoulder; a comforting “thanks-but-no-thanks.” What she got was so much better. Though it was just gentle squeeze, the touch of Cobus’s hand upon her shoulder was like an infusion of fresh blood. More accurately, it was an infusion of trust and comradery. He wanted her here—trusted her to help him keep the ship together, and that trust brought a bright smile back on her face.
Though nothing was said, Tegan nodded and looked to Zi as the third part of their special trio. Together, they would move the universe.
//"Braddock t- ... -eering! Can you find any pow-... -route through the mai-... -flector?"//
Tegan refrained from sighing. More power? Just a quick glance around made her wonder if they had enough to power a toaster, much less to accomplish whatever the Bridge needed with the main deflector. But then this was their job: fix what wasn’t fixable and power what utterly lost. Oh, she was adding that to her resume. That sounded marvelous.
"Alright, Button and Mast, I think it's safe to assume we've all become the most renowned magicians in the Gamma quadrant. So let's pull a goat out of a hat. I want every scrap of power that isn't holding this ship together routed to the main deflector. Do it."
“Yes, sir!” Tegan acknowledged. With a single glance to Zi, she moved with her roommate to work their magic.
"Right. I'm going to start with all non-essential areas not already on emergency lighting. I hope they like red."
“It’s a nice color,” she replied in jest. Her eyes looked through an overview of the powergrid and locked onto her first target.
“I hope stellar cartography saved their work, because…” A chord of beeps confirmed that the lab was now shut down. “Oh, well.”
She sorted through a number of science labs, most of which were already out of power; a few spurts here and there that Tegan quickly snatched away. Soon enough, all replicators, sonic showers, and even lavatories were out. She was suddenly wishing she had taken that bathroom break an hour back.
“I’m taking gravity down to minimal levels everywhere except critical areas,” Tegan announced. The last thing they needed was an earful from the Captain about why the Bridge crew was on the ceiling. A thought took her to the turbolifts, but she was reluctant to remove that means of transportation. It could be life and death for some. In the end, she left them alone.
Resting her hands near the controls, Tegan looked over to Zi. “What else can go?”
