"If there were a particular officer who evoked a certain feeling how professional-"
Ziana had never been so irritated by an Ensign before. It had sounded like the doctor was going to ask her something very interesting indeed, before the interruption.
He was dragged off and Ziana heard odd bits of the conversation. The staff here were obviously still struggling with the loss of their CMO. Suddenly, she felt a pang of sympathy for Bernard; how hard it must be to try and be the new boss when the previous chief was lost in such tragic circumstances.
"If you think I am above using an adhesive to keep you in bed, Ensign, you are sorely mistaken," Bernard said with a hint of a smile in reference to their quips from earlier. "I think you would feel better if you rest on the biobed and drink up."
She smiled despite herself. Despite everything at least he hadn't lost his sense of humour.
She grinned at Diran.
"Busted," she said.
"I think you may be right about the replicators, Lieutenant Button. I hardly think any of us have plans to forgo some certain conveniences after what we have been through and we really must be ready for anything in case of another emergency."
She nodded.
"On it," she said, flashing Diran another smile before she returned her attention to the replicator. "We'll have you back up and running in a minute." It was unclear to an observer if she was talking to the replicator itself or not - though anyone who had worked with engineers would probably suspect as much.
As she worked, the doors to sickbay opened and two people walked in, much to Ziana's surprise. Weren't they in lockdown? Her brain processed the people in question and her surprise changed into realisation; Yolanda was here because of the alert.
She tapped at her equipment as Yolanda spoke to Bernard, listening to as much as she could whilst she worked. Just as she mentioned Hunter and some kind of genocide weapon - which was definitely not something that had come up in conversation with her sister about her ex-fiance - the lights on the diagnostic tool went green and the replicator whirred back into life.
She sidled over to Diran on his biobed.
"Did you know the science department had been building genocide weapons?" Her voice was low on purpose; this wasn't the time to be interrupting the senior officers.
