The sound of Phillips laughing always made Tahp's skin crawl and she tried to think of pleasant things. Playing flying disk while on Earth was one of her go-to memories, as was a memory of the games she and the other outcasts played back on Etimon. Her lungs longed for fresh air, especially the energized air of her home planet. Sighing, she realized the memories were no longer helpful, it just made her feel strangled.
Suddenly, Haywood appeared and grabbed her, dragging her along violently. Tahp protested as he pushed her into the brig and one foot caught on the other, tripping her up until she fell at Robin's feet.
The members of Phillips' team were scrambling, surrounding the man and escorting him out of the room at Haywood's insistence. Tahp jumped to her feet and squeaked as yet another console sparked. She ducked behind Robin.
"Come on, out," Haywood said to the pair in the cell, ignoring the fire suppression mixture that was raining down on him.
Tahp moved out of the cell and looked at the office. It was still in there. She didn't risk her life for nothing.
"No," Haywood shouted as she ran past him.
The floor was now slippery with suppressant and she slid into a chair, knocking it over before she grabbed the bag and ran back out. "The Admiral would be furious if this was lost," she explained to Haywood, who only glared at her.
"Out," the officer said to her, pointing at the door. Turning to Robin, he nodded. "Let's go." There was a thud and Haywood turned to see Tahp holding her cheek with one hand.
"It won't open," she said.
