"Voices you say."
Alyssa sighed, knowing that she had just sacrificed the high ground to Petrik. “Yes.”
"Let me go get my pack. I'll be back in a minute."
"Maybe we ought to leave. I heard some bangin' but I don't know about the rest, I mean, if we tore into time I'm pretty sure we'd know about it."
“I don’t recall us doing anything to breach the same-time continuum,” Alyssa replied. Maybe Petrik’s head was so big that is made a tear? She smiled and mentally filed away the insult.
Again, the banging returned, and both Alyssa and Eden noticed something peculiar about it.
"That sounds like…it sounds like a pattern."
“I heard it too,” Alyssa listened again but heard nothing. “It stopped again. You don’t think someone is messing with us.” She knew Petrik well enough to know that wasn’t his style. But she knew another Bajoran snf his engineer friend who would certainly be up to something like that. They were an incorrigible couple.
“Maybe we should just get back to—“
The voices returned. This time louder and more panicked than the she’d heard the before. And this time she saw faces…familiar faces. Henri Roman and…that wasn’t possible. A shiver went down Alyssa’s body as she recognized the second face.
"ALYSS—THE…PORTERS!"
"Transport…Help…O.S!"
“Eden, are you seeing what I’m seeing.” Alyssa watched as the two faces faded away. She continued to stare at where they had been as she digested the scene. “Computer, locate Henri Roman?”
The computer signaled it’s processing the request. Alyssa’s eyebrow rose when the request took far longer than usual. Finally, it completed it’s calculations.
“Lt. Commander Henri Roman is in her quarters.”
“I swear I saw Henri right in front of me, and…” She hesitated before continuing, but if Eden had seen her too, one of the two of them of them had to saw it.
“…I also saw Athena Shaw. Then again, I’ve never put much faith in ghost stories.”
