“Try to move a bit closer”
Show almost missed the suggestion from her commanding officer due to her concentration of Morse Code and the sound of the rift. Taking a couple of steps away from the bulkhead was an effort as the high pitched noise of the rift began to effect her balance. Before she knew it some strong force began to pull Henri away from her. She felt her own feet leave the deck as the force took hold of her and pulled her across as well. Her body made contact with the opposite wall and as the force let go of her gravity pulled her down to the floor where she lay.
It only took a couple of seconds for her to regain consciousness, but all she could hear in her ears was a ringing. Opening her eyes was a struggle and everything was blurred. Eventually the ringing faded and she moved her arm half expecting it to hurt a lot, but it didn't. The only pain she could feel for the moment was on her temple where her head had made contact with the hard surface of the floor. She rolled onto her back with a soft groan and began to look around, her eyes were focusing and the blurriness disappearing. No one else was there except for Henri and a distinct blue light that slowly flashed. Not the best of signs. She could see that Commander Braddock was talking but her ears were still readjusting and couldn't quite make out what she was saying. Finally she could hear the voice of the computer spouting off a list of the senior officers and their locations.
So far so good. All those names seemed to be correct, though the whole blue light and their location situation was a bit of a worry. Had they made it back to their correct ship or was this another one? There was only one way to be certain. “Computer... what date did Ensign Shaw join the Talon crew?” Ashe queried after pushing herself into a seated position.
“Ensign Athena Shaw joined on January Eighteenth twenty four ten.” Came the reply and Shaw nodded her head in satisfaction, letting out a long sigh of relief. That was today. Perhaps she should have had more faith in the Bajoran engineer.... what was his name again? Well, that didn't really matter, though if he existed in this reality she would certainly be the first to believe in what he would say.
“See if there are any EV suits left in those lockers.”
Athena looked at Henri and nodded her head, pushing herself onto her feet, slowly. Stopping for a moment or two to ensure she wasn't going to lose her balance she moved to where she had earlier taken stock of where the EV suits were kept. Opening the cupboard door she found, hanging on a hanger, a single EV suit. Taking it out she returned to the console where Henri was waiting and held it out to her. “Just the one I'm afraid.”
