"Grace, please-"
Grace could understand the plea. It wasn't her intention to endanger Gideon. She was merely trying to make sense of everything that had happened. The nurse silenced her plea however, when she realized that it was beginning to upset Gideon.
"Please don't be mad."
"I'm sorry," Grace apologized. It was to both Eden and Gideon. "I'm not... angry really. I'm just... trying really hard to understand what's going on." She wasn't sure if her words were of any real consolation, but spoke them nevertheless.
"Maybe it ain't the best idea to poke at the snake, Grace. I reckon Lieutenant Loch is giving her a good talk right this minute."
Grace nodded obediently. A long sigh left her lips. It was true that Lieutenant Loch was likely far better equipped to speak with Lily. Just about anyone else was compared to Grace. It was why she wasn't on the Bridge initiating first contact dialogues.
After the sound of the thump, Gideon had only turned to appease his own mild curiosity. And the sight that he found clearly frightened the boy. As he screamed Grace quickly rushed to the porthole. She began to remove her jacket and searched for other items that she could move to obscure the view of the outside. Gideon didn't need to see this... any of this. Just moments ago he had been talking about feeding the hungry. This was too ugly of a truth for him to have to stomach so early.
It took some hurried relocation and stacking of some of Hunter's furniture, but she managed to block the immediate view of the porthole. She looked back towards Eden and Gideon. "I'm... I'm really sorry that you had to see that, Gideon," Grace apologized. "But... you're safe while you're in here... with your sister." It was the best reassurance that Grace could offer. Of course, it wasn't entirely truthful. Yet, Eden wasn't going to be the one to tell Gideon that his sister stood practically no chance against someone with Lily's powers. Not that Grace didn't wish otherwise.
