It felt a little better to have someone feel as unsure as he did- Bernard, though, couldn't really figure out why he'd felt under pressure. Auri was gracious and would have accepted anything with a smile. Maybe that was why- he wanted to genuinely give her a little excitement. But the same question re-emerged. Why?
Seia accepted the comb with some relief. His act of service nearly complete.
"So,"
There was a certain way a woman said 'so' that could make any man's skin crawl.
"How often do you get to see your friend in lovely dresses? If you don't mind me asking, of course,"
For a brief moment Bernard considered distracting Seia with shoes but took the risk of humanizing himself just a little bit.
"Of course," the doctor repeated, looking at the variety of things but not really focusing on any specific piece. "Almost never, actually," he admitted with no sadness, nor gladness, just fact presented for what it was. "She does not reside on the ship. Not that she would, she is not Starfleet and frankly, I am not so sure it would ever suit her, erm, lifestyle. The truth is I had imagined never seeing her again but recently she has taken new residence on DS10. With missions and current events I have not had the time to see her, unfortunately."
His stoic manner cracked just a little. He'd craved her presence more than he'd first thought.
"We have had a professional disagreement," a description which hadn't given credit to what had transpired at all, "which has added a little complication to our... relationship." Not to mention the body guards.
