Seia’s pleading look only lasted a second before Bernard stopped himself, and confirmed that human mating took some time.
“It atrophies and dies.”
It was the usual prognosis, and one Seia had been familiar with as well; it seemed the doctor was not lucky enough to have been able to avoid it either. His hands began to struggle against the Pelebian woman as well, and Seia was once again tempted by the devil to just cheat a little, just open her mind if just for a split second she could tell if-
“Miss Vance deserves the benefit of choice...
It was she need to hear before she made a very dear mistake, and she silently thanked the doctor for the help, though he wasn’t aware.
“and I highly doubt that choice is her stuck up, nagging physician.”
Seia offered her shopping partner a smirk, shaking her head. She would have to scold him later for thinking so harshly of himself, but she didn’t want to give the colorful woman false hopes. The Pelebian finally let their hands free, and Bernard added Seia’s items to his own and stood his ground against her. The engineer was about to protest, but she also didn’t want to interact with him to the point that their host would misinterpret them again. Or start crying. Or paint something. Instead the brunette decided to steer her attention to the sales lady, offering her an elbow and allowing her to lead them to the end of their shopping spree. “You know,” she whispered and leaned close so their shoulders touched. A sense of sorrow, failure, concern and confusion whirled in Seia’s mind, quickly joined by curiosity when Seia spoke. “Humans find the most joy and love in long, elaborate courtships.” For effect, she looked over her shoulder and winked at the Doctor with a smile, promising to explain everything later. The woman’s eyes widen in glee and her negative emotions dissipated, replaced by surprise, amusement and joy. “Really?” Seia nodded and tapped her lips, making her keep the secret to herself. Laughing and clapping again, the woman untangled her arms from Seia rushed ahead to her registered and sifted through colorful boxes and bags to wrap up their purchases.
“I think we’re ok for now, but we should finish our transactions before we are the transaction,” she told Bernard under her breath when he caught up to her. Vance was worried about upsetting the natives, since she was told that they could be offended by neglecting their hospitality, but she wasn't exactly ready to become one with a virtual stranger.
