Even though Athena had had a long night's sleep on the most comfortable bed she had ever slept in, she was restless. She wanted to work.
Standing by her bed wrapped in towels she finally decided she couldn't stay in her room. She needed to get out and do...... something. Anything.
After sifting through the contents of her away bag she pulled out a pale green strappy top and a long flowing light purple skirt with matching sandals she looked at herself in the mirror, holding her hair up in her hand before letting it drape over her shoulders. Loose. It was still slightly damp and if she left it like that she knew it would go wavy once it had fully dried in the sun. Maybe this is what she needed, to look less like she was on duty, except for her comm badge pinned neatly to her chest. This kind of outfit wasn't really her unless she was dancing. Did anyone else on board the Talon dance? That was something she was going to have to investigate.
She looked at her phaser, holding it and the holster in her hands. For several seconds she contemplated whether or not to put it on. Standing. Staring. She looked between the object and the full length mirror several times.
Closing her eyes and with a soft sigh she tossed the weapon onto her bed and headed out, leaving it behind. It felt strange to her to not be wearing what defined her as a security officer. Without it she could easily be in any department in Starfleet. The phaser is what made her a security officer.
Shaw didn't exactly know where she was going, she was just going to let her feet make that decision.
It wasn't long before she could hear the hustle and bustle of people, and she found herself looking at the various menus of the restaurants. She needed breakfast, and it was probably going to take a while for her to decide where to eat.
A tall Pelebian male suddenly appeared in front Athena as if he had been teleported in a matter of microseconds. He held out a hand towards her, a wide grin on his face. “A pretty flower, for a very pretty lady.” He smiled, waiting to see what the young woman would do.
Shaw took the offered gift and smiled back at him softly. “Thank you.” She instinctly brought it up to her nose and inhaled. “What a lovely scent it has.”
And just like that the man was gone again, leaving Shaw standing in the middle of the path holding a beautiful purple flower. It was slightly darker than the colour of her skirt and seemed to have an iridescent glow to it. She looked at herself, wondering what do with it. She had no where to put and wanted to keep her hands free. She certainly didn't want to throw away the beautiful gift as it went so well with her outfit.
A woman then came up to her, placing a hand gently on her shoulder. “I believe you will find this useful.” She held out her other hand revealing a hair clip. “It will so look pretty with your hair loose.”
“Thank you very much.” Athena smiled.
“Would you mind?”
“Not at all.” She shook her head and allowed the Pelebian woman to attach the flower to her hair using the clip. After a few more words of pleasantries between them the woman disappeared down the path and the Ensign was left looking around. Her stomach rumbled, reminding her why she was there.
Athena felt different somehow. All she'd done was just change her clothes and she felt more relaxed than she had done in months.
