Clad in just his dark undershirt and uniform pants, Nevir was reclined in his chair in one of the astrometric alcoves in stellar cartography. His cadet pin was on the table in front of him, next to a pile of PADDs detailing Starfleet protocols and regulations. His uniform jacket, the noticeably different cadet uniform, was strewn unceremoniously on an adjoining chair. It was too easy, much too easy, to let thoughts drift into the realm of questioning his purpose and continued struggles. Before this, the worst day for him was being stripped of his commission entirely and being dumped with the 4th class cadets on DS10. Now, the worst day was finding out that the fluke on the Talon and Hyperion were not flukes, just a beginning for a Starfleet that decided the half of him that he treasured the most was no longer welcomed in the Federation.
All he wanted to do was get his life back on track. And now he was a fugitive.
He didn't feel comfortable enough to try to find out what happened on Bajor or DS9. The last thing he needed was to be the one responsible to giving away the Talon's position. So he was completely out of contact with his people and his family. What side would his father choose? Would Starfleet even give him a choice? And were they going push Bajor off of DS9 and the wormhole?
He shook his head to clear his thoughts, and tapped the stylus in his hand on the PADD he held. It had a familiar scenario. Familiar in the sense that it was an after action report. HIS after action report. Concerning Etimon, and the cellular invasion of the ship.
"Protocol Violation section 27, subsection Beta. Junior officers are to liason with their senior officers or department heads before any kind of diplomatic contact between themselves and an independent work. Protocol violation section 3 subsection Alpha. Matters of a medical nature concerning personnel are to go through the Medical department; including and up to the Chief Medical officer...." he drifted off a bit, remembering who was the CMO back then.
"Protocol violation section 310, subsection Beta. Negotiation between Starfleet and other governments are to be conducted under the approval of the commanding officer, or with a trained liason officer/diplomat. Protocol violation section 10, subsection gamma. An officer should be relieved of duty if there is sufficient concern that the officer is emotionally compromised and unable to make rational decisions on their tasks."
Nevir scrolled down on his PADD and continued putting in the words he was speaking. "Punishment is at the discretion of the highest ranked officer, or their appointee for reprmand. Traditionally, first offense is a reprimand on the officer's service record. Second offense is duty suspension. Third offense is an inquiry and possible court-martial. Forth offense is a definite courtmartial, and continued until the lowest rank is obtained. Any subsequent offenses may result in discharge from Starfleet and legal actions based on the severity of the offense."
"Proper procedure - officer should have never put themselves in the situation to begin with. Officer was emotionally compromised.... compromised...." he said, shaking his head and tossing the PADD gently on the desk in front of him.
"Compromised... the officer was madly in love with a woman he hurt, and desperate enough to put his concerns for her over his sworn duty. The officer took a situation he didn't understand as passionate feelings, and convinced himself that there was a connection between himself and Tahp. He decided on love and pursued Tahp, not understanding why I hurt her so bad. And why my words were not welcomed...."
