As soon as Jonathan materialised he felt his feet sink a little into the sand. He heard a noise, and it wasn't the humid breeze blowing by but rather the sound of a large shuffling of sand. Jon looked over his shoulder and resisted laughing. Zaynah was somehow waist-deep in the sand, which surprised him, she wasn't that short.
For a moment he wondered if by some cruel fate she had been dropped into sinking sand. Jon approached, only his knees disappearing into the amber sand. He placed his arms around Zaynah and picked her up before dropping her back on her feet in a spot that was far more level.
"Be careful where you walk, there might be areas that might be deep enough for all of us to fall in." Jon said to the others before walking off into the direction of wreckage. From a distance it seemed there was a definite layer of sand covering it though it failed to really hide the structure. It didn't look like a large ship but then, maybe the rest of it was submerged?
They had only been here a minute or so and Jon was already starting to feel the heat, as one would expect in a hot desert. He reminded himself that it could be a lot worse, a sandstorm, for instance.
"Anything showing on the scans?" Jon asked as they approached the wreckage. Of course, he had his own tricorder but he would rather see the area with his own eyes first. There was a fair amount of debri lying around, and most of it was probably covered by the sand but surprisingly, the main hull of the ship had seemingly kept its general shape.
