Kary stood before the doors to the Holodeck, looking over at her companion. She wondered with the Etimonian girl would think of this experience.
"This room is called a holodeck," she explained to Ahska. "Have you visited here already?" She didn't recall Ahska mentioning this in her litany of places she had visited. When Kary had been in Ahska's quarters she had sent a request to the yeoman that had been assigned to take her things to her quarters that she needed a small case she carried in the front of her bag.
She was pleased to see that the message had been received. A young woman stood near the holodeck doors, holding her case.
"Thank you yeoman," she said taking the case, and with a nod of her head she indicated the woman could leave. Kary then turned the case to Ahska. Opening it, she showed her the tiny computerized chips that held some of her most dear holodeck programs.
Picking one up, she showed it to Ahska and held it out for her to examine. "Do you have anything like this on your planet, Ahska? Here, we use these to put information from one computer program into another. These tiny devices contain some special programs that I have treasured over the years."
Kary waited to see if Ahska had anything to ask or share. She knew that using the holodecks might be a bit of a shock to the young girl, depending on what life was like on her own planet. Kary hoped that perhaps together they could re-create some of Ahska's world so they would have a better understanding of where she came from. She was also prepared to share some of her own programs with the young girl, to see what questions and information it might spark in her.
