"Alright, well then we will focus on the positives of the situation instead of the negatives, and use this as a learning experience."
A learning experience... a learning experience for what? How not to lash out at a cadet for digging below the belt? Nevir kept his face shut, nodding in agreement despite internally not having that agreement at all. As if expecting the next commands, Nevir bent down and picked up the PADD he was using to get the readings from the atmospheric drone.
"Very well. Consider this area restricted. It's pretty much only us here, and I don't foresee that changing anytime soon. Configure the probes to run the scans, and ready a report to present to your chief."
"Aye sir," he stated, looking down at the PADD and drifting himself back towards the tree. He was perfectly happy letting all this go while he finished his work. Again... he didn't need a cadet or an ensign to watch him. And if anything, there should have been another science officer. But no, Vargas had faith in him.. it was Kinin who did not.
"Cadet Burke, make your focus attempting to get the drill bit back. If it's gone, it's gone. It's not the end of the world. But if we can manage to salvage it, that's one thing we don't have to replace."
"Yes, Ensign."
Uh oh... Nevir's head turned back up towards the two. The equipment was packed and ready for travel, regardless, and he had already told Burke that they needed the more advanced scanning equipment on the ship. He was a fresh Ensign, and in Ops... who's bright idea was it to put a new Ops guy on a cadet science mission?!
"I just don't know how. I've never seen anything like this in our studies yet. Sir."
"Ensign, sir." he spoke up... Contessa didn't need any more stress. "Dilithium is a class 3 compound, we don't have the equipment on hand for any kind of sensor sweep of the deposit. We would require either a Class 3 probe to be sent here, or the use of the sensors on the Talon. We still have 4 other drill nodes, so we can continue, but trying to retrieve the drill will have to wait. Cadet Burke already did the best she could under the situation." he said, starting the recall process for the atmospheric drone.
