"There should be residual increased levels in the streams." He moved over to Georgia's station and pointed on her screen. "Can you calculate the rate the current one is diminishing? That should give a clue to a time frame when we find another."
She hadn't done this sort of ops work in some time, but she wasn't about to pass up the opportunity to do it now.
"Sure," she replied, just about managing not to prefix it with an 'err...'
Georgia blinked as the Commander used her first name. She was very surprised to hear that he knew it. Maybe she'd changed a lightbulb for him in the past sometime.
"No word yet from the shuttle."
She closed her eyes for a brief moment. They were fine. They had to be.
She still had yelling to do.
"Meaning sir, that the shuttle is still moving under power."
She hadn't realised that she was holding her breath until she exhaled. Nobody was out of the woods just yet though, and she could still feel the tension all through her at the thought.
"Ops, can we get a fix on them through all this?"
"Not really, sir, sorry," she apologised, her fingers flying across the console as she tried to find anything useful to tell him. "The disturbances are playing havoc with the sensors. It's creating phantom readings, things that are there one minute and gone the next, so it's rather difficult to tell what's really there and not." She prodded at some more buttons. "I mean, they're there, but I couldn't tell you exactly where there is." That was very unhelpful, and she really wished she could think of something more useful to say. "I'll try amplifying a focused beam and see if I can get that through the interference."
