Dorian did what Captains do when they aren't at the sharp end. He waited. That was probably the hardest part of his job in all reality. The waiting while the action went on below them on the surface of Aesco.
Complete reports were not expected from the first team only check-in signals, but the ones regarding the repair of the downed ship flowed fast an furious and he approved all requests for equipment and personnel.
His orders had been to recover both the ship and crew and so he was doing his best to make that happen.
He'd already sent a brief message with the status of the Copernicus and it's away team back to Admiral Rell at SGE and through the wormhole to Starfleet Command. He didn't include anything about the cause of the storm around the planet as the streams and their effects had yet to become common knowledge in the Alpha Quadrant and such information was still too classified to be sent in such an open message.
After he'd done all that he did the one thing more he never let anyone else see, not even Kinin. He paced.
As much confidence as he had in his crew, adjusting to being on the ship while is XO led the away team was at the best difficult for him. At least this time he didn't have to worry about Kinin being down there. Not that he doubted her abilities or would ever voice his concerns to her. But that worry was just part of his human nature and one that he fought.
Finally he kicked himself knowing it would be easier if he were out on the bridge. So, Dorian put on his bridge face and left the ready room.
"All of the supplies have been transported down,"
"Excellent," he said. "Do you have any estimate on time yet?" Dorian relieved Tyne who'd been on the bridge for several hours, and slid into the command chair.
