Seia had invested deep consideration into attending the Induction party for the Etimonians. On one hand, she loved parties, and socializing, and it was the very thing she needed after multiple double shifts she'd been pulling on the station. If anything, the party should be thrown for all the Engineers that were working at neck-breaking paces to complete the station. And sure, they can invite the Etimonians too. But at the same time, she knew larges crowds weren't the best idea, especially when she was new to a ship or station. She had sent her measurements to a seamstress that was already on the station, just in case she decided to go at the last minute. After her dress had been sent to her, she decided that it wouldn't be right to just leave it in her closet. She should at least find the seamstress, who turned out to be the Governer's sister, and thank her for the lovely fitting. The engineer had added another 20 minutes of meditation for extra concentration and decided that she might have to befriend another Betazoid, or even a Vulcan some time soon. It was getting more and more difficult to keep her empathy in line without a guide; she had always found it difficult to meditate on her own.
Her dressslipped on easily, and Vance was glad to let her hair down from the Starfleet regulation do up she always had. Just looking at herself in the mirror made her convince herself it would be fine. She had plenty of tactics to not have to come into contact with anyone, and she couldn't stay too long in the first place because she was pulling another double the next day. Taking the turbolift to deck 41, she adjusted the bodice of her dress before clasping her hands behind her back and walking into the reception area. Grinning widely at the hologram's illusion, she didn't let her appreciation stop her from scanning the faces of the guests that had already arrived. Spotting the Etimonian delegate she had seen around the station with another of her people, Vance once again admired their aesthetics; they were really beautiful and the Betazoid in her loved pretty things and people. As much as she wanted to introduced herself, she hadn't read enough about them to know if that was appropriate, and approaching a delegate was probably a bad idea.
Spotting many empty seats and tables, Seia chose one that wasn't completely devoid of life. The woman was unfamiliar to her, probably from the Talon, and she didn't quite seem to be enjoying herself. It wasn't going to stop Vance from talking to someone, anyone. Not that she had anything against Commander Tykat, but she also wanted to have a conversation where everything she said wasn't being dissected. A waiter walking by stopped and offered her champagne, which she took before approaching the corner table. "I hope it's ok I sit here," she said politely, taking a seat two chairs from her. "I really don't know too many people yet and none of them are here. My name is Seia Vance," she added cheerfully, raising her champagne in lieu of going closer. "Are you from the USS Talon?"
