"So, I assume, Desan, that you don't have a date for this event?"
Desan shook his head, giving Etaera an inquisitive look, trying to understand what she was getting at. Had rumors of his antics gotten this far? He wasn't certain whether to be proud or annoyed.
"Because you see, neither do I, and if it's Rell you're looking to observe, you're not going to find a closer seat in the house."
Ahh, that made a lot more sense. Somewhat relieved that she wasn't aware of exactly how bad of a person he could be, he nodded to her. He should have expected the Trill to be able to look right through him, still, it wasn't something that happened very often. Perhaps he was getting lax in his old age.
"Or you can continue lurking around like you're looking for trouble and see where that gets you?"
"I don't look for trouble, it just seems to have a way of finding me," he said mildly, sitting down in the seat that she'd offered him. Despite his annoyance at her figuring out just what he was looking to keep an eye on, he had to admit that it was a good way to observe the dignitaries without looking obvious. "Thanks for the offer," he said.
"Despite the fact that it's been a good 20 years since I was an Admiral, I believe that some things rarely, if ever, change."
"Ahh, that makes sense," he said, filing the information away. He felt slightly better at being found out knowing that she had Admiral level knowledge, even though it was likely incredibly outdated.
"Vildar-Etheron."
He looked towards the doorway, raising an eyebrow as Etheron entered. So this was the often referred to Ruler of Etimon. He'd seen holovids, but he'd yet to see the man in person, and he was suddenly all the more glad to be seated at the Head Table. It would give him good perspective into the man.
"Is there something wrong with the Governor's chair?"
Desan's eyes scanned the crowd once more, and he tried to pick out the Governor of the station. He was distracted momentarily by the man's date, but identified him quickly. He wondered why the Governor hadn't seen fit to be seated yet.
