"Commander, are you in any pain?"
"No. Broken ribs feel quite pleasant to Klingons," M'Khol responded gruffly. He didn't even bother to try and keep the annoyance from his tone. He kept his eyes on Robin, who still appeared to be unconscious on the floor. Standing up and pushing his way past Ensign Diran and Lieutenant O'Reilly, he dragged Robin off the pad to allow the shuttle crew to beam up more of the officers that were still left on the planet below.
"Don't worry about me, I will live. Star's injuries are worse than mine. He likely was half drowned by the time he was beamed up." He returned to the seat, sitting down heavily. He was trying to keep up a strong front to make himself look better than he really was, but the effort was taxing him considerably.
M'Khol coughed, spewing some of the remaining water that had been in his lungs onto the floor of the runabout. His broken ribs were becoming more painful by the moment, and he hoped that nothing was seriously damaged.
He was beginning to feel weaker, and quite tired. He could hear Tyne say something to Ensign Diran, but try as he might, he could not focus on the words that were being spoken. He remembered something about a generator, but the harder he tried to focus, the more dizzy he became.
Another coughing spell hit, shaking his entire body. This time, the water that came off had a reddish tinge, and his eyes widened as he realized just what was occuring.
**Just hold on,** he thought to himself. **Just a little bit longer.** He did not want to take O'Reilly's focus off of Robin, not until he knew the other man was safe. He was the Chief of Security, and that made him responsible for the safety and wellbeing of the entire crew. He wasn't about to fail in that regard by losing someone. His own injuries would wait.
