"It shows a softer side, right?"
"Yeah, the women see it like that. The men, on the other hand, generally aren't as accepting of fellow men carrying around stuffed animals." He pointed over to the dragon that was still sitting at the booth. "That, however, will most decidedly be mine, even if I have to get completely inebriated and steal it."
"Thanks."
"You're welcome," he responded. He laughed as she quickly finished her beverage. At least she wasn't going to be one of those stuck up women who pretended that she was too good to have fun.
"I'd shake your hand, but..."
Adrian didn't bother to let on that he knew her by reputation, as he figured that would only cause her further upset. That whole "First do no harm" thing tended to leave one feeling guilty when they inadvertantly wrecked some sad woman's life. "Good to meet you, Georgie," he said, grinning as she kissed his cheek. It had been a rather long time since he'd been with a woman...
**Whoa there, libido, let's not be getting ahead of ourselves,** he chided.
"I think I need another drink."
"I think I concur. On both my account as well as yours." He pulled something out of his pocket, concealing it with his hands. He looked side to side quickly, before leaning forward conspiratively. "I have a secret," he said, whispering. "I have the key to unlimited free booze." He parted his hands a bit to show her the token that he held. Now that he took a closer look, he could see there were characters engraved in it. He'd questioned the wisdom of giving away unlimited free alcohol, but then he'd realized that drunks likely spent more money on other things, so it made up for the lost revenue from alcohol. He recalled the casinos on Earth had similar policies.
"Nice little ship. I was on her from her shakedown cruise."
"I've heard good things about her," Adrian said. He'd of course been briefed about the various ships that many of the crew had arrived from. It was kind of fascinating how Starfleet, with it's tens of thousands of ships still managed to keep sticking the same people together. He figured that was largely superiors requesting people that they had worked with previously.
"I think I really need that drink."
"We can't keep the lady waiting," Adrian said to Diran. "Let's go head over thataway. I'm pretty sure I saw a bar with some music and a dance floor. A few more of these things," he pointed to Georgia's glass, "and I might actually dance."
