"Who should we sacrifice, sir," Mandy heard herself say before she could stop the words. "I think there's only a small team of engineers currently working on sealing the hull breaches. Or perhaps we should just let the crew in the brig--"
Freeman walked over to Mandy. "I don't know if Monroe encourages this type of insubordination, but I do not. One more outburst like that, and you'll be relieved of duty." His eyes met those of each and every member of the Bridge crew, letting them know it applied to them as well.
"Transporters, Replicators, and Sonic Showers have been taken offline. All power has been drawn from Science Labs, Leisure Areas, and Crew Quarters. Life Support and Environmental Controls are at minimum tolerance."
"Thank you, Ensign," Freeman replied, glad someone on the Bridge had a head on their shoulders and could use it.
"There's just not enough power to operate both systems concurrent. I'll have to fire the weapons then divert power to the shields. That's the best I can do Commander. The computer has been programmed to lock onto their weapons and engines. I'll bring our weapons online and fire on your command."
"Fire," Freeman ordered. He glanced at Mandy. "As soon as he's done, get the Talon to those coordinates. Unless you want Ensign Hopper to relieve you."
As he stood there, he continued to wonder about the skill Monroe was obviously lacking to have a crew this green.
