“That is assuming everyone was in the know,”
"Of course people knew," Coardi challenged flatly, looking back into Jeven's gaze with a tear stained scowl.
“We don’t know how many were truly aware and in support of the ‘grand plan.’ There could be an influential few that took a general xenophobic mistrust and twisted it to accomplish their agenda.”
Why was he giving these savages such a generous benefit of the doubt?
“We may not see all our allies, but they are still out there. Humanity has faced many challenges over the life of their civilization: the Borg, the Dominion, the Klingons, not to mention their own kind. But if they have shown us anything, it is that they are remarkably capable of weathering every storm. Don’t give up on them yet. Their better half will win out.”
"I prefer not to be a casualty in their storm of self discovery," Coardi replied, not hiding her dissatisfaction for Jeven's pep talk. Her neutral countenance had begun to fade. She grew tired, even her pagh ached.
"Landeck knew."
Robin had finally begun to speak again, unlike Sur'Shess who merely existed there with clenched fists.
What he had to add to the puzzle seemed to make a picture. If it were true or not was beyond her knowledge.
When Hrax moved by her she felt a little more like a flower in the sun but the effect didn't last long. T'Rai's legs were getting heavy, and the weight of their situation was feeling more crushing by the moment. Metters was trying what he could but he couldn't help from his side of things.
Coardi adjusted her balance, and taking a rare opportunity, leaned against her lover. His body was warm and familiar.
"How much do you think the Captain knew?"
His body hummed with his words. It was comfortable despite the words.
"He knew enough to put us in here. He mentioned an officer being his whistle blower but I can't think of an officer he allowed me to be a part of the meeting nor have I arranged one out of the ordinary. A captain or an admiral with tight lips isn't unusual but this is impressive even by that standard."
//"This is Commander Arthur Freeman. During Captain Monroe's absence, I have assumed command of this vessel as Acting Captain effective immediately."//
"Absence?!"
"Freeman?"
A good number of senior officers were in the brig but Freeman? She knew him but suddenly felt the discomfort of a lack of knowledge, a feeling she tried to compensate for with her closeness to Hrax.
