"How is everyone?" Doctor Diego asked.
Grace new instantly that he was inquiring beyond the results of the scans that she had just given him. "Well, Ensign Adler's condition is continuing to improve," Grace informed him. "He was still unconscious when I last checked, but the hallucinogenic that was in his system has decayed significantly. If he were to wake up now, I suppose he'd have a... light buzz." She knew that it wasn't a medical term, but with another hour or two of sleep, only trace amounts would remain in his system.
"And as for the first official citizen of this colony, and his mother," Grace began, "Sean's vitals are within normal parameters. In fact, they even have company right now."
"Visitors already?" he questioned with a chuckle.
Grace nodded. "Yes, sir," she continued. "Commander Griffon beamed down. I think he wanted more than to see the baby, so I gave them some privacy." Grace didn't think it was necessary to notify Luis of the exchange she'd had with Commander Griffon. And it certainly seemed like he hadn't been offended. As far as she was concerned, she'd be happy to forget about it ever happening. She probably wouldn't be able to forget, but she'd be happy to.
It was at that moment that Commander Stetson seemed to pop out from behind the curtain. Grace instinctively stood at attention as the man strode past. She offered him a curt nod and tried for a smile. Of course, it was certainly awkward, because she wasn't sure if she should smile. "Commander," she said as he continued on his way. Once he was out the door, Grace allowed herself to relax a bit. Yet, it was only a few seconds before Kinin spoke out.
"When can I return to the ship," she called out through the thin fabric.
Grace looked at Luis and then began to move back towards the curtain. She drew it back and held it a moment, and turned to see if Doctor Diego had followed. "Once soon as Doctor Ericson ends the quarantine," Grace began, "and Sickbay alerts us that they're ready to receive you, I'm sure Doctor Diego will sign off on the transport." Grace was hoping that she hadn't spoken out of return. As far as she was concerned, those were the steps of protocol. First and foremost, whatever contamination was running rampant needed to be contained.
