"Nothing to concern yourself with at this time,"
Heard that one before, Diran thought as he paused. Suddenly his appetite wasn't quite what it was and he set down his eating utensil. He tried to exchange glances with the rest of the crew, before allowing eyes to settle upon Nivans. Hopefully there really was nothing wrong that concerned them, but the mention of sending a fleet earlier didn't do much to back up that fact. If things came to the crunch, he needed to know he could rely on his colleague to stand with him. He had little doubt of that though.
"There has been an incident,"..."You are to remain here on Ribeniam with a task from Captain Kealan Monroe."..."Shortly after your arrival, your Captain and former crewmates caused the blatant destruction of one of our ships and murdered its crew."..."In a highly unorthodox request from the Captain of our Fleet, it has been decided that you investigate. We will provide the witness for your questioning. When your examination of the evidence is complete, a trial will be held. You will be provided group quarters and will inform us of any needs."
"Ribeniam is your home now,"
Unfortunately, as Zeed reappeared after his brief absence, he finally launched into his explanation of what had come to pass. The Talon, murder innocent people?
"I don't believe it", Diran spoke flatly in a tone that exuded the actual meaning of the statement and not one of simple disbelief. He really didn't believe it, there had to be some kind of explanation. It seemed as if his crew mates were thinking along the same lines, judging from the looks on their faces. What did he mean by Ribeniam being their home now? That sounded as though their minds were made up already, that even without a so called trial none of them would be leaving if these people had their own way.
Diran too glowered at the Da'n Ma, but Star jumped into action as he arose and attempted to follow him. As he thought, the Lieutenant didn't get very far when an aide stopped him, whistling for Joon to come to his side, acting aggressively toward Robin. He stood almost at the same time as Eden, his own phaser drawn to stun the animal if it made any attempt to injure Star. It was their job to protect the away team, after all. As he did so, he still attempted to process just what was going on.
"Only real fact that we have right now is that Talon was responding to a distress call..."..."Maybe the Talon got their too late and the Ea'n'Dra wanted to blame someone."..."Eat up while you can, this is going to be a long day."
As the flight controller did what Diran considered the sensible thing in this situation, he holstered his phaser as he too sat back down. The facts he laid out were all he knew of personally, but it was too soon to even begin to contemplate what had happened. The last thing he wished to do was tuck back in to the feast, but Star did have a point. They would need all their strength if they were to clear the names of the Talon crew. If the Ea'n'Dra were that adamant that they were guilty, then how did he know that they wouldn't falsify the evidence? He was rather inclined to agree with Nivans statement, but thought it best not too. Especially seeing as the angrier she got, the harder her accent became for him to understand. He had no idea what she meant by dogs and hunting, but decided that he probably didn't want to.
