"You presume too much, Lieutenant Robin Star."
Presume too much? Robin narrowed his eyes even further. His 'presumptions' were facts as far as he was concerned, they may be on alien soil but Zeed had said this was their own investigation, as ordered by their Captain. He glanced to the second guard who showed them all a device before placing it against his ear. A communication device. He was waiting on something, and Robin hoped it was an order for them to back the hell down.
"We do not want war,"
It was a quiet voice but unmissable in the tense and silent atmosphere. Robin shared Aevo's statement, they didn't want war but something was telling him that the Ea'n'Dra government did or at the very least, they didn't realise how close they were to confrontation.
"Your team will surrender their weapons. We had allowed them as a gesture of good will, but you have interfered with them and that will not be tolerated."
Robin couldn't quite believe his eyes and ears right now, and that was saying something considering everything else he had been told today. Interfered? Hardly. If they had indeed interfered then the guards would already be on the floor. His anger was flaring and it was enough for him to not take notice of Aevo's return into the room and such, his vulnerability. The second guard threw something into the air and by the time Robin started to move, the deed was done.
A shriek of pain drilled through all of their ears, Robin turned and watched in both shock and horror as Aevo fell to the ground with a bloody wound. The pilot stared, unblinking as he came to terms with what he just witnessed. How could they? Why did Aevo come back in? Why hadn't he acted faster? Another promise unfulfilled? No, he wasn't dead...
Robin felt Aevo's hand on his leg, using what little strength he had to pull himself closer. The pilot collapsed to his knees and took Aevo's hand into his own before pressing his other hand against Aevo's wound in an attempt to stop the flow of blood. His own hand trembled slightly as he imagined the hand he held to be the guard's throat.
The worst part was... why did Aevo say that he lied? Robin forced back tears. It didn't matter who had just been shot, Robin felt for whoever had been stabbed in the back by their own people, forced into a fight where everything was against them. All Aevo wanted to do was learn about the universe... and not the extent of man's cruelty. He gently squeezed Aevo's hand.
Then the doctor was by his side doing something, she hadn't told him to go away so he must be doing something right within all this madness.
"I need someone to grab a hypospray,"
Robin released Aevo's hand and placed it beside his own on top of the wound before grabbing a hypospray from the medical kit and awaiting further instructions.
"You will not listen to the babblings of a dead man,"
Robin hardened his grip on the hypospray. They didn't even care to use his name and Aevo's words were far from babbles despite how they might have come across.
"And you will hand over your weapons."
Oh how much he wanted to say 'come and get them' but no matter his desires, he intended on not stooping to their level. Aevo said he didn't want a war. Robin was going to honour that if he could.
In reality, to take their weapons was an impossible feat. Every man or woman in this room was their own weapon, whether that be the weapon to heal, to neglect damage made from others or simply a body that was in of it self a weapon. That being said, they could not surrender their 'actual' weapons. After using the hypospray as Nila intended, he let it go before standing up to turn around with fire in his eyes.
"No. If we interfered as you claimed then you would not be standing here to claim them. We are not prisoners here." Robin said.
He glanced briefly at the device on the ground. Was that the guard's only connection to Da'n Ma Zeed? Had Zeed told them to kill Aevo, take their weapons and that would be the end of the situation for him, as in there would be no trial. Actually, there would be a trial but without the witness and a court room wrapped in government lies and corruption. The urge to order his security officers to subdue the guards was rather tempting if they could no longer communicate with Zeed unless Zeed also heard what was being said in this room.
"And what's to stop you from shooting us just because we say something you don't like? Our weapons will remain with us for our own protection." Robin stepped towards the guards.
"Now if you'll be so kind," Robin narrowed his gaze. "Get out."
