Nila watched as Halsey handed a padd to Robin. She wondered if the engineer thought he was being slick instead of looking sketchy. If they were being listened to, then she thought it was pretty reasonable to assume that they were being watched as well.
She found herself reading over the same sentence for a third time, only to once again fail to fully comprehend what she'd been reading. Her gaze flitted from the document to the others as they moved around the room, and she couldn't help but listen to their conversations despite her efforts to ignore them. For a woman as focused as herself, she'd always been easily distracted.
"Reading anything good?"
Oh good, they'd resorted to small talk. She couldn't tell if that was better or worse that the juggling and moving about. "There's nothing that lifts the spirit quite like a Cardassian epic. Though there's some Russian literature that comes close," she replied. It wasn't by any means a normal person's choice for inspirational literature, but for whatever reason, it was always the sort of thing she'd been drawn towards.
Fortunately, Nila was saved from any ongoing conversation when their witness entered the room. Her own fate and the fate of the Talon could very well be determined in the next few minutes. She quickly abandoned her reading material to give Aevo her undivided attention.
"Does anyone have a PADD or recording device that we can use to record the investigation?"
Nila looked up at Diran and studied him, trying to decide what had prompted him to ask such a silly question, knowing that there were at least a couple of padds she'd already seen floating around. After overcoming her initial inclination to deny the existence of the padd in her hands, she skipped ahead to the somewhat more important detail.
"Excuse me," she said, trying to get a word in before they began. "Ef'Ano'Aevo, with your permission, we'd like to record your testimony."
