We need to be tested? Robin thought grumpily to himself, as far as he was concerned they had all already been tested to their limits, and then some. And yet this new species comes flying out of nowhere demanding proof of their worthiness! Strangely enough Robin wished these pewdins had a mind reading device just so that he could storm over to their ship and show them everything that made up the good men and women of Starfleet, or at the very least the USS Talon... but then, this was arguably a new ship and crew, yet to be tested.
Robin sighed mentally, he knew rationally that the pewdins were within their own right to do what they were doing. They were trying to protect themselves from an unknown that had just been involved in a massive war and now that very same unknown was sniffing at the edges of their home. Were they a threat or an ally? Hopefully an ally, Robin thought to himself.
And that's what they hoped to prove today.
Robin glanced at his readouts and the coordinations given to them by the pewdins and until now they hadn't been able to get a solid sensor sweep of the location. He let out a sigh before announcing the bad news.
"If the air is breathable you may want to start wrapping up anyway, looks like we're heading into a tundra." Robin told the team, much to his own discomfort. I suppose that's why they call it a test, he mused to himself.
With that said Robin began a cautious descent into the atmosphere where the only thing you could deduce from looking out the window was that everything was white and cloudy. Physically, he was flying completely blind but thanks to the navigational instruments he was finally able to break through the thick wall of cloud and into a landscape that was equally white and unclear as they entered into a mild blizzard.
Knowing their luck, the cyborgs they were here to fix were probably buried in the snow, either purpose or by nature's hand. Evidently the pewdins picked a great day for testing.
After a few minutes of careful flight, several beeps announced their close proximity to the coordinates but Robin was taking his time. What if they were about to land on an unstable frozen lake? After a brief exchange between himself and Yolanda they had concluded that they were not about to drown themselves and because of that the shuttle finally touched down on the snowy surface.
Robin was reminded of one of his traditional old gags he would make during shuttle rides, Star airlines and it had been a very long while since he had done so, it had been non-existient during war and scarse before but now? The urge was there but the motivation was not and so he dediced to forget it as he suited up into the cold weather uniform that was for the most part a silver coat with a hood and a spare set of face masks if needed.
Once he finished checking that he had his phaser and tricorder, Robin opened up the ramp to the rear of the shuttle and approached the opening and already he felt the cold gush of wind against his face and drastic drop in temperature within the room.
Out of the frying pan and into the freezer...
