"none of them seem to know anything about it, either. Except maybe Jenison."
Robin nodded to Liz, it was true but they could be hiding such knowledge but Robin didn't believe that was the case. They only knew their orders and sometimes that meant both prisoner and detainee were on equal ground, which wasn't as much of a comfort as one might think.
Whatever thoughts Robin had were swept away by Cobus's own impromptu speech that was as encouraging as it was necessary for those that needed to hear it. Robin wasn't one of those people for he did trust most of those outside this cell and within, he had fought alongside them during the war and before. Those people he knew to have no shortage of mettle in their soul.
It was the outside forces, the omnipotent orders, those cloaked in the shadows that Robin did not trust and this day was just setting the stage for even more fear, trepidation and anxiety, all of which should be expunged. It had and should not have any place on a Starship that represented all peoples and cultures.
"The Captain knows what he's doing." Robin said, hoping to incite his own brief level of encouragement.
If Robin wanted to say more the choice was stripped from him as he suddenly found himself lurching face-first into the forcefield, barely covering his face in time for him to yelp at the force that pushed back into his hands and knocking him off balance. He didn't fall, at least not until he attempted to catch T'Rai's and failed, bringing him smack down on the hard ground beside her.
"Ow," Robin grunted before sitting up to inspect his reddened hands, he wasn't burned but his palms sure as hell stung. The pilot's nose wrinkled, was that the smell of burnt gagh? Shaking his head he looked over his shoulder to see others who seemed all okay.
"Someone open fired on the ship,"
"Who?" Robin muttered out as he stood to his feet and helping T'Rai do the same as he thought back on the last known heading. They shouldn't be anywhere close to hostile or even risky space! Who was shooting them?!
"Please state any injuries."
"I'm fine," He said quickly, stepping closer to the forcefield despite the previous quake of the ship, his face barely an inch away from the buzzing field as his eyes gazed upon the main display, his jaw dropping and staying agape at the sight.
His training soon kicked in as he attempted to identify the vessel, not something he ever expected to do against said vessel. "Akira class..." His brain went down the list of known designations in the local fleet.
"It's the Lachlan," Robin told everyone but beyond that, he had nothing to offer, the name wasn't that familiar to him but maybe someone else had heard of the ship and could offer some explanation.
The pilot blinked, speaking of hearing, he reached out to touch the edge of the cell and felt the familiar low tremor vibrating steadily through the bulkhead and through his bones.
"We're going to warp." He announced as the minuscule lurch in his stomach signalled their successful launch into faster than light travel.
With that said, Robin only had one thought.
"Either they're the bad guys or we are." He said solemnly to no one in particular. Had we attacked them first? Had Kealan done something against Command's orders? Too many questions!
